St. Lawrence Parish is home to many programs for parishioners, including:
We're pleased to offer a children's liturgy program during 10:00am Mass on Sunday, for children from age 3 until they make their First Communion. Recommended by the Diocese of Pembroke Religious Education Office, it is designed to present the Gospel in a simple, straightforward way, and to teach the children liturgical responses.
We have an excellent parish choir who faithfully provide liturgical music and hymns to enhance the parish liturgy, in keeping with the liturgical guidelines of the Church. Twice a year the Men's Choir performs, and the children of the parish give a special performance at the family Mass on Christmas Day.
Catholic Women's LeagueThe St. Lawrence O'Toole Council of the Catholic Women's League of Canada is a lay association of women that contributes greatly to the life and vitality of our church and community. Through prayer, donations, and good old fashioned elbow grease, the CWL supports dozens of works and programs in our parish and community.
Knights of Columbus Also active in our parish is a local council of the Knights of Columbus, a Catholic men's fraternal benefit society whose fellowship is promoted among members and their families through educational, charitable, religious, social welfare, war relief and public relief works.
The sacrament of confession is available a half-hour before all Saturday and Sunday Masses. It is also available during the week in the sacristy before Mass, and at any time during parish office hours. We have special Sacrament of Reconciliation services during Advent and Lent.
Arrangements can be made for Baptismal preparations, and the time can be set for any Sunday of the year. Please contact the parish office to make arrangements.
A course is required before entering into the sacrament of marriage. Please contact the parish office one year in advance of your planned wedding date.
Occurs before Christmas and Easter, and when requested.
Occurs on the first Friday of every month.
Some 80 parishioners, including teenagers, serve the parish as Lectors, Ushers, Gift Bearers and extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist. Our Parish Council provides excellent advice and support on matters of both finance and property.
Currently some 20 young men give faithful service at the altar. A good number also remain to serve through high school. Please contact the parish office if your child is interested in participating.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place on the third Wednesday of the month, from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, in the sanctuary. (A sign-up sheet for specific hours is posted in the narthex.)
Honoring Mary under the title of Mother of Perpetual Help, this devotion begun by the Redemptorists occurs every Wednesday before Mass.
The rosary is recited by interested parishioners before weekday and weekend Masses.
